The Systems Administrator serves as a technical lead within Augusta Water’s Information Technology division. This position is not a help desk role. It focuses on infrastructure management, system development, and long-term IT projects. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 administration, with the ability to design, build, and maintain secure and efficient systems.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 administration is required. Bachelor’s Degree and at least two (2) years of systems or network administration experience is preferred. Proven ability to design, configure, and maintain secure system environments, including virtualization and server management. Essential Job Functions of this position include, but are not limited to: Administer and optimize a Microsoft Exchange Online environment by leading advanced configuration efforts, developing and managing mail flow rules, establishing retention policies, and resolving complex system issues to ensure secure and reliable performance. Oversee server, network, and storage infrastructure to ensure reliability, security, and scalability. Troubleshoot and enhance single sign-on (SSO) integrations across multiple systems, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Lucity, and FinancePlus. Manage user accounts for non-SSO systems as needed. Support and maintain enterprise-level cloud applications and security tools, such as Microsoft 365, Duo, and Sophos. Plan and execute technology upgrades, migrations, and system integrations. Configure and support network hardware and software, including switches, VPNs, and firewalls. Develop and implement cybersecurity, backup, and business continuity strategies. Apply system and application updates, monitor logs, and proactively address performance or security concerns. Maintain virtualization environments and verify regular data backup and recovery processes. Collaborate with department leaders to assess technology needs and deliver sustainable IT solutions. Provide limited technical assistance to end users as needed, with the primary focus on system administration and project execution rather than day-to-day user support.
